Double stacked custom AHUs, lab exhaust, oil-free chillers and intelligent pumped glycol energy recovery

440 Bedford is a brand-new 320,000+ SF purpose-built life science building in Lexington, MA. Dynamic Air proudly provided the lifeline HVAC infrastructure in the building with 315,000 CFM of 100% OA supply air, 315,000 CFM of general lab exhaust, (2) 1200 ton water-cooled centrifugal oil-free chillers and a Konvekta pumped glycol energy recovery system that recovers energy from the building exhaust and transfers it back into the supply air.

The rooftop double stacked American-Made AHUs by Cambridgeport are truly a custom build. The mega-AHUs include a tempered and fully ventilated 2-story service vestibule, allowing facilities personnel to escape the elements as they service the units.

Konvekta’s pumped glycol system includes heat injection HW heat exchangers which adds the bare minimum of heat that the exhaust itself cannot provide during heating season necessary to maintain AHU discharge temps. The system reacts dynamically to the variable demands of the system throughout the year. The result: 80-90% energy savings on boiler heat input needed for the supply AHUs!
