What were you doing before you started with DA and when/why did you join the team?

I was on the Commercial Sales Team for Mitsubishi Electric supporting the Boston engineering market with the design and specification of VRF systems. A few years in Matt Tefft (VP Engineering) and I started working together on integrating VRF with different styles of air handling units, and he asked if I would be interested. The biggest selling point to me was the ability to own projects from their inception at design through startup. Did not take long for me to transition.

What characteristics make you excel at your job?

“It takes what it takes” – A great book and title that really describes a what makes a great Sales Engineer (among other things). The engineering and contractor community rely on us to do what it takes to get the job done, or get information they need regardless of any road blocks. Aside from being the product expert, this is the greatest value we bring to the project, and something I pride myself on.

What is a quality about you that isn’t obvious at first?

Outside of my own home office I can be a clean/organizational nut. I handle any/all home deep cleaning efforts. If a room is being re organized, it gets laid out in PDF/CAD first, and then all walls/ceilings/floor/furniture get cleaned as part of the process. My wife uses it to her advantage.

What is a talent you possess or one of your hobbies that people are impressed by?

Probably more surprising than impressive, I really enjoying Slalom water skiing. Deep water starts can still be a challenge, and some may say I don’t have the ideal body type, but there are few things more enjoyable than early morning sets on a glassy lake.

When you have some spare time, or plan a future event, what is your go-to?

When I get the chance to plan a trip or event the goal is to be outside. Depending on the season that means golfing, skiing, biking, fishing, hiking etc.. and I’m always open to try something new.

Who are your favorite people to spend time with and why?

My wife and son, as well the as the friends and family community we have in Marblehead. We’re very fortunate to live in the town I grew up in. Nothing than better than getting everyone together for a backyard barbecue or beach day.
