Michela Morrison

What were you doing before you started with DA and when/why did you join the team?

After I graduated from college in 2015 with an accounting degree, I began working full time as an accounting associate at a large nonprofit organization. I attended graduate school part time and received my Master’s in Taxation in 2019, while working my way up to a Senior Accountant position. Around the same time I was thinking about shifting to a different industry, I learned that DAC was expanding and I felt like it was meant to be. I joined DAC as a Senior Accountant in November 2023. Everyone is so welcoming and willing to help each other. I feel so lucky to be part of such an amazing team!

What characteristics make you excel at your job?

I’m extremely organized and detail orientated. I’m also motivated and persistent. All of these things make me particularly good at balancing & reconciling. If something is out of balance, even by a dollar, I am determined to find it and correct it!

What is a quality about you that isn’t obvious at first?

I’ve always been shy and quiet around new people, but once I get to know them, I love to joke around and make people laugh.

What is a talent you possess or one of your hobbies that people are impressed by?

I’m a speed reader. I can read a book in a day. When I was a teenager (before e-books!), my family took a 10 day trip and I brought 8 books and read all of them. Needless to say, my suitcase was over the weight limit.

When you have some spare time, or plan a future event, what is your go-to?

I usually spend my free time reading, shopping, hiking with my dog, or hanging out with family & friends. If I’m planning for a future event, it is usually for a trip or vacation because I love to travel and explore new places.

Who are your favorite people to spend time with and why?

I love spending time with my family. I grew up in a tight knit Italian family and we had Sunday dinners every week… and we still do! Whether it’s just a few of us or the entire extended family, we always have fun and laugh.
